the real katana project


Now included: Ninja stuff!

One of the greatest disappointments that MW had in store for me was Bethesda's idea of a katana:

This is a halfway decent knife perhaps, but sorry Bethsoft, a katana looks different. Quite different.

So, after looking around a bit I found two katanas in the MW modding community. One was done by Proudfoot, which unfortunately wasn't up to my expectations either, and another done by Rhedd which was very nice, but unfortunately not for download.

Conclusion: Time to get to work. The fruits of my labour can be seen below:

This is what proper katana look like. With ~500 polys per model and a bunch of textures it's not cheap, but elegance has its price...

I also replaced the daedric katana set.
modifying the models above yielded the following results:

No more uber-long dai-katana. 25% blade length increase is really more than enough!
I also renamed them from dai-katana to no-dachi, which is a more correct term.

yup, the hamon and those runes glow in the dark.

For those who like to dual-wield, I also included parrying wakizashis in the mod.
The mod requires Tribunal for leveled list scripting functions.
If you don't have Tribunal, you'll have to take my .nif files and assemble the mod yourself, sorry.
